Day 3

November 16, 2016

Only a handful of times in my photographic career have I been overwhelmed by a landscape or situation.  As a matter of fact, I can only occasion that comes to mind is the San Juan mountain range of Southern Colorado.  There are so many beautiful sights, that I find myself putting the camera down and letting it all soak in and keeping it to myself.  That is what happened yesterday as I spent the day in the Redwood National Park.

The day was spent going as slow as possible through the Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway, stopping occasionally to explore the temperate rainforest that surrounded us.  It makes sense that this forest was the filming location for multiple movies and shows such as Jurassic Park and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.  While I kept much of this to myself, I did capture some silliness, like my wife covering herself in coffee.

We also made the trek over to the Fern Canyon to walk up the creek to see the 50ft walls, covered in ferns.  It's certainly like walking in a prehistoric land.

We even found an opportunity to take a little couple's portrait while we were at it.

Normally, I have a wireless remote to take photos such as this.  This time, it was....more fun...

After this, we spent the day on the beach, dodging rain showers and then heading up the coast to Coo's Bay, Oregon where we stopped for the night.  Today, we are seeing more of this wonderful coast and I will be sure to keep you all posted.   I am even thinking about creating a photo book from this trip.  Would you be interested in seeing this?  Leave a comment below!

In the mean time, check out this amazing sunset that we experienced as the rain broke.
