Do you want to know what one of the most terrifying things in the world is? That's right ladies and gentlemen, it's hornets in a porta potty. Luckily, these guys weren't too active but think of the consequences! Anyway, yesterday I decided to head down to a local reservoir to take some photos at sunset. It is a really beautiful park which is full of interesting plants, wildlife, and general scenery to photograph. In all, I walked 8 miles to make sure I got the exact right spot to get a shot of the sunset filtering through the atmospheric smoke coming over from the California wildfires. During my walk, I ran into a friend....

Mr. Garter Snake! (I am choosing his gender because I didn't take the time to properly sex him or her) He was cruising along when I first saw him and as I walked up, he froze. After snapping off a couple of pictures with my cell phone, I used a leg of my tripod to gently coax him off of the path because bikes haul ass through there and I didn't want him to get hurt. He scurried (do snakes scurry?) off into the high grass to live his happy snakey life.

In the end, this is the photograph that I came to get. It was an interesting photo walk and I am happy with the result. As much as I hate the fact that California is burning, I will certainly take time to appreciate the sunsets that it is creating here!
